The Zhiguli Pearl tourist & recreation complex will become a key tourist destination in the Samara Region, a competitive element of the tourist & recreation cluster of the Samara Gubernia [province] in the domestic and international tourist markets. This project envisions building a monument to St. Nicholas, the patron saint of travelers, a dock complex, cableway, ethnographic village, park and gardens, spa complex, golf center, skating and snowboarding parks, ski complex, wakeboard station, and a bicycle rental business.

Unique features of the project

The project is unique owing to:
- the convenient geographical situation of the village of Shirayevo that is equidistant to the region's major centers;
- high concentration of tourist resources;
- presence of a seasonal tourist influx.

Currently, the work is in progress at federal level on preparation of a decree for transfer of lands of Samarskaya Luka National Park for creation of creation of “Zhigulevskaya Zhemchuzhina” (Pearl of Zhiguli) Tourism and Recreation Facility, the issue of creation of the Tourism and Recreation Facility will be dealt at the meeting of the Government of Samara Region in January 2008.
